decorative door and porch

It’s almost springtime, the perfect time for cleaning and freshening up your space. Are you currently looking for affordable and practical yet stylish ways to breathe some new life into your home? Then you’re in the perfect spot.  In this article, we are going to share with you our favorite decoration ideas to do just that. Here they are:

Plants

The simplest thing that you can do to breathe some new life into your space is to literally bring in something living and breathing. Plants and flowers can uplift the energy of any room, improve its aesthetics, and even improve the indoor air quality of your abode!

If you think plants are too boring, then you can add more color with painted clay pots, planters, and baskets. Just place them in locations that get a lot of natural light and remember to water them regularly.

You can also opt for fake plants if you don’t have the time (or the green thumb) to take care of your plants. This idea will also work for rooms without any windows. However, we will always prefer to have our plants and flowers fresh whenever we can, though.

Home Accessories

Aside from plants, you can also switch up your home interior accessories and decor to give your home a new look. There are two elements in particular that can change your home’s aesthetic drastically: lighting and wall art.

Lightinglighting

For those who think that the word fresh can also mean flair, we recommend installing edgy and more contemporary light fixtures. A chandelier with a modern and architectural style, for instance, can add some new angles to an otherwise boring and predictable space.

Don’t stick to ceiling light as well. Mix and match different table lamps and bathe your rooms with light even at night. Just pick pieces that match your room’s color palette and style so that your pieces won’t look over-the-top and mismatched.

Wall Art

While installing light fixtures might not be too practical, wall art certainly is. It can change the empty canvas of any room by giving your walls added interest and personality. For rooms that play with a lot of patterns and textures, we recommend getting minimalist pieces like contemporary art prints. On the other hand, choose fun and colorful pieces for rooms with neutral and plain interiors.

Carpets and Rugs

Don’t just focus on your walls. After all, if you think of your room as an empty canvas, this doesn’t just include your walls and ceiling but it also involves your floors as well. Don’t allow your flooring to be cold and unforgiving. Inject some warmth and comfort with area rugs and carpets.

And just like your wall art, don’t be afraid to experiment and put together different pieces. Consider layering rugs of different textures and patterns, as long as they share the same color palette.

Windows

You don’t need to limit the life of spring to potted plants. Invite the outside in by keeping your windows open. Light and lacey curtains will allow the fresh air in, dampen the harsh sunlight, and add some romance.

It will also allow natural light inside and improve your home’s ventilation. Nothing spells spring better than flowing white curtains bringing in the fresh scent of your garden, right?

Scents

Speaking of scents, what kind of smell comes to mind when you think of spring? For us, that would be clean and fresh citrusy scents. There are two ways to make your home smell better:

Candles. These are not just affordable and practical, but they can also serve as decorative pieces. Just don’t place them anywhere near your flowing white curtains.

Scent Diffusers.
If candles are not an option, then you can consider getting a scent diffuser instead. It can freshen up a room as efficiently as a scented candle and they come in a lot of different style options as well.

You don’t have to spend too much just to change the style of your room and ready it for the upcoming season. Sometimes, simply adding some small details like plants and candles is enough to make a big change towards livening up your home.

The ideas that we have shared with you above are not the only things that you can do to switch up the look of your home as well. We encourage you to try new things and be creative in your design projects. We’re sure that whatever you’ll come up with will make your home as fresh as the upcoming spring, regardless.
