The kitchen floor is considered to be the most significant part of your kitchen as it adds beauty in the kitchen if it’s properly done. There are various types of kitchen floors like tiles, laminate flooring, sheet vinyl, etc. which you can utilize to make your floor look elegant and make it strong.  It is also important to consider the choice of floor so that it matches the style of kitchen cabinets.

Medium Hardwood

Medium hardwood gives a full brown look that is neither too light nor too dark. This type of flooring is better in displaying because it does not affect the look of the room in term of size. It is also easy in cleaning. Also, different lines on this type of floor give a natural look. But the problem with this type of flooring is that does not provide much of a decorative look. Also, you have to be very careful while handling these floors as they could get scuff due to rough handling.

Light hardwood

Most people prefer a light hardwood floor because it does not display scratches easily. So it is ideal for people who have pets in their houses. This type of flooring is also useful in making moderate rooms look a little bigger in size but it does not work well in smaller rooms. Also, daily cleaning is necessary for this type of flooring as it shows stains more clearly.

Dark Hardwood

Dark Hardwood flooring utilizes mahogany or cherry tone. This type of flooring is most often marked with a condensed finish to provide it with a shallower look. The best thing about dark hardwood is that they perfectly fit in various big rooms. Its shallow tone gives a sophisticated and classy look. Their ability to reflect light comparatively is good that helps floor warp when sunlight comes into a spot. But scratches on these types of the floor become more obvious due to their dark surface. Dark hardwood makes a room look smaller so it will not be a suitable choice to do this flooring in small rooms.

Porcelain Tile

Porcelain tile is built with solid ceramic material. The best thing about porcelain tile is that they are long lasting and strong as compare to other flooring types. They do not get cracked or get broken easily. Porcelain tile also resists stains but if the filling around tiles is not handled carefully then it would attract stains. Also, individual tiles could be swapped in case any problem occurs instead of re-flooring of the whole kitchen. As it is a hard surface so it may not be ideal for the kitchen. Also, fragile things will get broken instantly when dropped on this floor.

Ceramic Tiles

Usually, ceramic tiles are built with other compounds so they are not as solid as porcelain tiles. But ceramic tiles are very smooth which makes it easy to walk. Also, they easy to clean as compared to porcelain tiles. They also come in various sizes and styles. But the major problem of having ceramic tiles is that you have to be extra careful otherwise they could get scratched easily. Also, it creates a cold feeling on its body sometimes which makes it difficult to walk.


Travertine is a basically limestone which is put be mineral springs. Travertine is a light tone. Travertine is a long lasting kind of stone that can be used. It is also easier to substitute any tile that needed to be fixed. Also, travertine is not easily get scratched but it is a heavy surface than other tiles. Travertine gets severely damaged if it comes in contact with an acid.


Vinyl flooring provides a smooth surface and gives an elegant look and it is also waterproof. It could be surfaced to provide a wood-like a look. It is durable and doesn’t get easily scratched. Vinyl also could be organized in various tones without any holes.  In accordance with, the biggest disadvantage of vinyl flooring is that some gasses might be formed by vinyl which can cause injurious chemicals to cultivate in your kitchen based upon how strong these gasses are.


Marble tiles are all different because they have their own qualities and lines. They are also available in various sizes but marble floors are porous and can take a lot of water.
